Lange Erlen Zoo
Lynxes, wild cats, deer or boars – indigenous animal species are quite at home at Lange Erlen zoo. Purpose of the park at its opening in 1871 was to offer the working-class a free alternative to the Basel Zoo. Nestled in the lush greenery by the Wiese river, the zoo is a popular destination. Furthermore, the animals, exhibitions, a pony riding facility, an exciting playground and a historic carousel in summer attract visitors to the park.
